Care Coach Spotlight: Amanda Stenton

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” Dalai Lama XIV

At RPM Healthcare, compassion is at the heart of what we do. Patients are welcomed into the RPM Healthcare family by care coaches (licensed nurses) that show compassion, understanding, assistance, and knowledge. Our care coaches become an integral part of the lives of the patients they serve and strongly believe in treating the patient, not the disease.

Care Coach Spotlight: Amanda Stenten, LPN

Care coach, Amanda Stenton, LPN, is a knowledgeable, passionate nurse with a special interest in cardiac health. She took this interest and volunteered to work with some of our most complex patients: Those suffering from congestive heart failure (CHF). Amanda has done an excellent job educating and empowering patients to take control of their health. Flexibility is one of her strong qualities. She offers to assist co-workers when help is needed and working from home with a young family, she still makes her patients a priority. We invite you to learn more about Amanda, her compassion and commitment toward patients, and why she chose to become a care coach with RPM Healthcare.

How long have you been a nurse? I have been a nurse for six years.

What made you decide to become a nurse? When I was little, my grandfather got hurt. I was always intrigued by the compassion of his nurse. I wanted to show that same compassion towards others who needed help.

Where were you working prior to joining RPM Healthcare? I was a nurse with Bayonne Visiting Nurses Association.

What made you want to become part of the RPM Healthcare family? Working from home was not typical in the nursing profession, but the pandemic fully opened the door, increasing access to medical care. I was fascinated by the prospect of working from home and helping people stay on top of their health, especially those with a chronic diagnosis. After researching RPM Healthcare, I applied.

What is it like working with the RPM Healthcare team I absolutely love working here. Everyone is so nice and helpful. In this type of environment, you can better assist your patients.

How does remote care differ from bedside nursing care? Working remotely has made me a better listener. At the bedside, you can easily look at the patient and do a head-to-toe assessment. With remote care, listening is key, as well as asking the right questions to give patients the proper care they need.

What do you feel are the benefits of remote patient monitoring to providers? Having an extra set of ears on a patient who is dealing with a chronic diagnosis really helps with improving outcomes.

What do you enjoy the most in your day-to-day interactions with patients How have you made a difference in the lives of the patients you serve? I love talking with patients and hearing their stories. Even though it’s a phone conversation, I have built lasting relationships with patients over the past year. I always encourage my patients to exercise daily as it will help with weight loss and decrease blood pressure.

Now that we have discovered your compassion for those you serve, what are your hobbies and interests outside of caring for patients? Outside of caring for patients, I love spending time with my family whether it’s staying in and watching a movie or going to the pool. Seeing my kids happy makes me happy!
